Radu Maxim Secures a Spot in the 2023 PFL Europe Series

As the PFL Europe Qualifiers roll on, Vojto Barborik (13-2) takes on Radu Maxim (9-2) with a spot in the PFL Europe Series on the line! Barborik seeks to return to get back in the win column following a loss in his last bout that snapped an 11 fight win streak.  A prolific submission artist, Barborik has finished 10 of his 13 professional bouts via submission. Maxim returns to the SmartCage following a 3.5 year layoff following a win in his sole appearance under the Bellator banner and a loss to current UFC fighter Joel Alvarez. It’s another winner take all battle and the stakes couldn’t be higher!

Round 1

The fight begins and Maxim is the aggressor early, striking his way into a level change and securing an early takedown.

From side control, Barborik is able to create a scramble to a turtle position but Maxim maintains a front headlock before Barborik is able to sweep to top control.

As they continue to scramble, unfortunately Barborik seems to get his knee caught in an awkward position and injures it badly, tapping on the mat right away and ending the bout.
